Princes greeted by standing ovation - July 1 2007
Prince Harry kicked off the Concert for Diana with the words: "Hello, Wembley!"

William and brother Harry took to the stage in front of a 63,000-strong crowd at Wembley Stadium at the start of the special event they have organised in memory of their mother, on what would have been her 46th birthday.

Sir Elton John opened the event with a performance of Your Song before introducing the two princes, who entered to a standing ovation.

"This event is about all that our mother loved in life - her music, her dancing, her charities and her family and friends," said William, 25. "We just want you to have an awesome time and enjoy the line-up."

Harry said: "It’s great to see so many of you here supporting this very special show."

And the 22-year-old royal couldn’t resist cracking a gag.

"When William and I first had the idea we forgot we would end up standing here desperately trying to think of something funny to say. We’ll leave that to the funny people - and Ricky Gervais," he quipped.

The princes were watched by Harry’s girlfriend Chelsy Davy and William’s former girlfriend Kate Middleton, who helped them to organise the event.

The concert marks the 10th anniversary of Diana’s death and features a line-up of acts including Lily Allen, Take That, Kanye West and Sir Tom Jones.

The princes introduced one of their mother’s favourite bands, Eighties heart-throbs Duran Duran, before taking their seats in the royal box.

Odds slashed on Wills and Kate reunion - June 25 2007
Bookmakers William Hill have slashed the odds on Prince William and Kate Middleton getting engaged following reports they have been seeing each other again.

The couple were seen kissing and dancing together at a party at Bovington Army camp, where the prince is training to be a armoured troop leader, The Mail on Sunday said.

The bookies said they had seen a run of money on an engagement in the past few days and had cut their odds from 33/1 to 3/1.

Since the couple split in April, 25-year-old Kate has been seen out partying with friends at London nightclubs, while William has been continuing his army career and organising a concert in memory of his mother, Princess Diana.

The paper said William and Kate’s night together was one of a series of dates the pair have had in recent weeks, while Kate decides if she wants to get back together with the future King.

The breakdown of the couple’s four-year relationship came as a shock. Many believed they were set to announce an engagement, with Kate one day being Queen at William’s side.

William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: "Punters are piling in based on the stories that the break-up has actually brought them closer together and are certainly hoping that William will decide that he has made a mistake and that they will get back together."

Clarence House would not comment on the reports the couple were back together.

Biography

William Arthur Philip Louis Mountbatten-Windsor, or Prince William of Wales was born in London on June 21 1982 to Charles, Prince of Wales and his then wife Diana, making him second in line to the British throne.

William made his first public appearance in Cardiff on St David’s Day 1991.  By this time, it is rumoured, his parents were seperated, although they did not officially divorce until 1996.  In 1997 Diana was killed in a tragic car accident and the funeral saw William and his brother, Harry, become of real public interest for the first time.

Educated at Eton College William has three A levels in Art History, Geography and Biology.  After leaving school he took a year out, during which he took part in a British Army training exercise in Belize and spent time with the Raleigh initiative in Chile.  Wills later gained a 2:1 BA in History of Art at St Andrews University in Scotland before following in the footsteps of his younger brother by joining up at Sandhurst Military Academy, graduating in late 2006 and also joining the Blues and Royals.  He will train to become a troop commanderthrough 2007 and although it seems unlikely that he will see active service he has indicated that he would be willing to do so.

On the event of his father’s ascension to the throne William will become Duke of Cornwall, Duke of Rothesay and, most likely, Prince of Wales.  Should he become King himself he will likely be known as King William V, although he is free to choose any of his Christian names as a regnal name.

Throughout recent years William has been linked to several unlikely women, among them Natalie Imbruglia, Christina Aguleira and Britney Spears.  William split with long term girlfriend Kate Middleton, whom he met at University, in 2007 putting an end to rumours that she was to be Britain’s future Queen.
