ITV to document Diana’s last day - Mar 23 2007
ITV is telling the "definitive story" of Princess Diana’s last hours in a new documentary to mark the 10th anniversary of her death.

Diana’s Last Day will feature pictures taken by some of the cameramen who shadowed the princess just before the Paris crash.

The programme, which will also feature interviews with the paparazzi who trailed her, will document the last 24 hours of her life.

ITV’s director of television Simon Shaps said it would steer clear of showing images of her final moments in the Paris tunnel.

He said of the pictures in the documentary: "We don’t think any of those are intrusive. We’ve thought very carefully about what we’re going to show. There’s clearly going to be huge public interest in Diana 10 years after the crash.

"We’re telling the story of Diana’s last day with some original material, in what will be a good way to show what happened."

He said the broadcaster had thought "very carefully" about the sensitivities of the Royal Family.

The documentary is part of a range of programmes commissioned to pay tribute to the late princess.

Diana Unseen, which promises to "reveal a side to the princess never seen before", will feature unseen footage of Diana from the public’s home videos.

The channel will also broadcast Oscar-wining hit film The Queen.

Channel Five is marking the anniversary as well, with a £2 million TV docu-drama about the final weeks of the princess.

Stars set for Diana concert - Dec 12 2006

Sir Elton John, Joss Stone, Duran Duran, Bryan Ferry and Pharrell Williams will perform at a concert in memory of Princess Diana.

Details of the show were unveiled by Prince William and Harry today.

The royal brothers, now 24 and 22, announced that the star-studded pop concert and a memorial service will be held in their mother’s memory next year.

The Concert for Diana will be staged at the new £757 million Wembley Stadium on the Princess’s birthday, July 1, when she would have turned 46.

The commemorative memorial service will take place in London on the anniversary of her death on August 31 - 10 years to the day since she died in a car crash in Paris.

William said he wanted the pop concert to be "the best birthday present" his mother ever had and revealed the line-up will be inspired by her musical tastes.

In a nod to Diana’s love of dancing and musicals, there will be an appearance by the English National Ballet, while Andrew Lloyd Webber will stage a medley of songs from his West End shows.

Further acts will be announced at a later date.

Fountain to Remember Diana - 29/06/01

Plans for a new fountain to commemorate Princess Diana have been announced. The memorial fountain will be built in the beautiful surrounding of Hyde Park beside the Serpentine.

Diana’s close friend Rosa Monckton, who is head of the committee set up to advise on the location and design of a memorial, said: "Diana liked to walk here and I think would have approved of the location."

It is being paid for through public funds, partly met by the sale of official commemorative coins. Earl Spencer has also endorsed the fountain, which is due to be completed by summer 2003 and will be decided by a competition of water engineers, architects, artists and ecologists.

It will not incorporate a statue or any figurative representation of Diana.
