London Club News: Gimme Shelter!

EC1 style-Mecca, Fabric will host a series of Shelter parties next month, headlines by New York DJ Timmy Regisford. Shelter the New York-based garage club has been running at the city's Vinyl club for over a decade, with Regisford in charge.

Regisford plans to import the sound and soul of Shelter to London with a collection of parties commencing on September 20. "I hope to build something where people can dance to music based around songs and not just instrumentals. It's about the spirit, feeling and vibe that we've managed to create in NY each week for the last ten years," said Regisford.

"We are into real music, from African to jazz, not just tracks - I hope that London people come out with an open mind" he continued. Shelter London takes place at Fabric 77a Charterhouse Street London EC1M 6HJ, from 9pm to 4am on September 20. Tickets cost £10. We have a two pairs of tickets for the upcoming events on September 20.

Fatboy 'Mr Subtlety' Slim snatches wax record - 13/08/01

Filmmakers on the shoot for the video to the Fatboy Slim remix of Markus Nikolai's forthcoming single 'BUSHES' have broken the world record for the most bikini waxes ever completed. The shoot, which took place at the Topnotch Health club in Whiteleys Porchester Gardens, brought tears to the eyes of 74 women (and two men) in fours hours, shaving minutes of the world record.

Official judicators from the Guinness Book Of Records stood by and watch the feat enter the history books. A press spokesperson for Fatboy said: "The concept was genius, the process was agony, but the results were stunning." Norman Cook's remix of Marcus Nikolai's 'Bushes' is released through Southern Fried Records on September 10.
