Represents the Kensington and Chelsea constituency which covers all of the Borough south of a line which runs approximately along St James Gardens, Elgin Crescent, Ladbroke Grove and the Westway. Michael Portillo is the shadow chancellor. Darling of Tory right and hate-figure for the left. He was elected as a MP in '84. He rose to employment secretary and defence secretary, but ducked standing against John Major's leadership in '95. Famously defeated in the '97 election, he reinvented himself as socially liberal Tory and was re-elected as MP for Kensington and Chelsea November 1999.
