Calum Best has been hitting the headlines for rather less frivolous reasons than usual this week as his father is put on life support once again.
The ladies man has had other things on his mind as he visits his footballing legend father George in hospital, where he has been critically ill for several days following an infection. Yesterday (21/11/05) Calum met with fans to reassure them that George was still battling on despite the doctor’s worst fears and that the family are ever hopeful of a recovery. “It’s been a long week but things have taken a turn for the better. I’m very hopeful,” he told press, whilst also thanking the fans for their support.
Biography
While the ladies of Britain have Abi Titmuss leading the parade of pointless celebs the chaps have model/reality TV bloke/footballer’s son Calum Best, who regularly adorns the tabloid pages as he works his way through the female population of Britain in much the same way as an Autumn hurricane might rip through Florida.
Born in North Carolina, USA in 1981 Calum is the son of footballing and drinking legend George Best and to begin with had grand plans to step in to Daddy’s football boots but instead found himself working as a model and professional party animal. His crowning glory has probably been an appearance on ITV’s Celebrity Love Island where he was able to cavort with fellow talent vacuums such as the aforementioned Abi and Beckham-trapper Rebecca Loos.
High profile flings with Lizzie Jagger and Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding as well as punch ups with P Diddy have allowed Calum to extend his fifteen minutes and he even has plans to break in to the world of acting with a turn playing his own father in a Working Title biopic – he might not have the thespian gene but when it comes to boozing and womanising we can’t think of a better candidate for the job.
