"This is an understated, but powerfully good restaurant. The proprietor is an Italian woman who's just as you might imagine. Persuasive. Friendly. Persistent. Caring. She'll recommend the soup of the day, which is always fabulous. I had a cucumber soup one day, and it was out of this world.
You have all manner of choices for an entree. Pasta. Meat. You decide. It'll come deliciously prepared by the kitchen staff. The restaurant is small. Probably 10-12 tables total. The "bar" is really just a serving area. You'll drink your liquids at the table.
If you are craving good Italian in the Hammersmith area of London, give Avellino a try. I eat there every time I'm in town.
