Jamie inspired the charitable Fifteen restaurant further up the coast at Watergate Bay, near Newquay, to train disadvantaged youngsters to be chefs.  And Rick Stein runs his Seafood Restaurant and a number of other businesses in the Cornish port of Padstow - dubbed Padstein by some.

The Cornish Liberation Army (CNLA) said in an e-mail that Jamie would be a target because he was "another incomer who has caused the inflation of house and other living costs at Cornish expense".  The group’s "directing council" also said his clients and customers were targets.

The CNLA accused Rick of being seen to "ride over local democracy".

Devon and Cornwall police said that a 36-year-old man from Padstow had been arrested in connection with threats to destroy or damage property.  He was arrested on July 4 and had been interviewed and released on police bail until August 14 when he will have to report to Newquay police station.

The police spokesman said officers were conducting parallel inquiries into the alleged threats made to the two chefs.

Jamie congratulates graduating chefs - June 22 2007

Jamie Oliver will today congratulate young chefs who are graduating after a year’s training at the beachside Fifteen restaurant he backed in Cornwall.

The charitable Fifteen Cornwall restaurant opened in May last year to give disadvantaged young people in the county the chance to build a career in the restaurant industry.

The first intake of 12 students will graduate today, and the much-loved celebrity chef will be on hand to welcome the second group of would-be chefs.

The cooks will now begin their training at the restaurant at Watergate Bay, near Newquay.

The restaurant profits will go to Cornwall Foundation of Promise. The organisation was established to support, train and guide young people in their bid to become top class chefs.

Jamie, 32, is best known for his role in campaigning against unhealthy foods in British schools. He is also known for TV shows like The Naked Chef and Jamie’s Kitchen.

Jamie and Jools ’most natural couple’ - April 19 2007

Jamie Oliver has added another award to his collection - but this one’s not for his cooking.

The TV chef and his wife Jools have been voted Britain’s "most naturally fitting" celebrity couple in a poll of 3,000 parents, conducted by nappy firm Huggies.

The Olivers beat daytime TV hosts Richard and Judy to the title, with Prince Charles and Camilla in third.

At the other end of the scale, singer Michael Jackson and one-time wife Lisa Marie Presley were chosen as the least natural couple, followed by Liberal Democrat MP Lembit Opik and Cheeky Girl Gabriela Irimia.

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline also featured among the least likely couples.

Biography

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver thinks everything is ’pukka’ which means upper class or well-bred according to my dictionary. He came into my local once, admittedly only to shoot a short scene for his intensely irritating Sainsbury’s TV advertising campaign, which he reputedly trousered a cool million quid for. He’s made lots out of his books as well, which are mostly about cooking. Recently moved to a new home in Hampstead with wife Juliette Norton.
