This facial (Taolay means rejuvenating in Thai) uses all-natural Ytsara, the luxury Thai Spa brand, known for its holistic approach based on traditional Thai principles.

Its organic product range is bursting with plant extracts and the ingredients for this treatment have been specially chosen to help firm the skin and correct the signs of ageing. Sesame seed oil, for example, is supposed to help improve skin elasticity, while rosewood oil is known for its highly regenerative properties and is a great cell stimulant.

You are also encouraged to use the complimentary spa facilities such as the Jacuzzi, two steam rooms, and sauna and after the treatment you can head to the RelaKs Zone, where they can sip fruit-flavoured water and listen to urban chill-out tunes while lying on a body contouring beds.

The Process

Yuko, the lovely therapist, began by bathing my feet in warm water while massaging each foot with lemongrass oil – this traditional Thai cleansing foot ritual is thought to ward off negative energy and impurities. 
She then gently worked a rich, creamy orange blossom cleanser into my face, neck and shoulders. Next, a papaya and green tea (renowned for its high antioxidant content) scrub was applied before a second round of cleansing. The relaxing experience continued: a poultice infused with vitamin-rich sesame seeds and Thai ginger was dipped into warm rosewood oil and used to massage the face. Yuko also massaged my head and feet with rosewood oil. For the final touch, neroli essential oil (a pricey oil extracted from orange blossom) serum was applied.

The Result

Yuko ensured the whole experience was very relaxing, while the products felt super-luxurious. Afterwards, my skin felt firmer and there was a noticeable improvement in my skin tone. I just wish I’d waited until after the treatment to wash my hair.
