Honeyroot featuring Kim Richie – Where I Belong

Release date: Out now
Format: Single
Genre: Pop
Our Rating: 1/5

A disappointing piece of dross from Glenn Gregory, formerly of Heaven 17 and now half of Honeyroot. It will probably end up as a backing track on the OC as a teen stares off into the wilderness following the latest angst moment of their life, and it deserves no more than that.
Kim Richie’s vocal is lovely but merits better than this soulless reggae laced non-entity.

Press Release: The second single from the album ‘Where I Belong’ fuses laid back country melodies with upbeat ska. Honeyroot got bona fide country star Kim Richie to sing her floating vocals on this optimistic piece of dance, pop perfection.

“Glenn Gregory is best known as the front man for Heaven 17 (the band behind the hit Temptation) but for the last few years he’s been one half of Honeyroot and they’ve just made one of the best albums of the year” says Daniel Griffiths, editor of Future Music, one of the UK’s leading music production magazines.

Today’s most successful artists have one thing in common – the ability to re-invent themselves and challenge their audiences and Glenn Gregory has done just that – he has evolved into the chief writer, producer and performer in Electronic outfit, Honeyroot.  Teaming up with music partner Keith Lowndes, their latest album ‘The Sun Will Come’, juxtaposes intense energy with a calming ambience set over blissful dreamscapes and a solid bass.

Second single from the album ‘Where I Belong’ fuses laid back country melodies with upbeat ska. Given the track’s Country music leanings, Glenn and Keith were keen to get a bonafide country singer for the vocal, so they tracked down acclaimed Nashville country star Kim Richie, well known on the international country scene for her “Glimmer” album.  Her floating vocal beautifully wraps up this optimistic piece of dance, pop perfection.

With comparisons to such artists as Air, Moby, Massive Attack, Morcheeba, Daft Punk, and Portishead, Honeyroot are now poised firmly to follow in their footsteps of success. Released on 13th August on Eco Friendly independent label Just Music, ‘The Sun Will Come’ is being hailed as one of the best albums of 2007 and a must for beach parties to dance floors across the globe.
