Cowell's mum wants him to marry? - Oct 20 2007
Simon Cowell has built up a showbiz empire worth millions - but it seems all his mum wants is for him to settle down and have children.

Octogenarian Julie reportedly told the Daily Mail she hopes her 48-year-old son will marry his long-term girlfriend Terri Seymour.

"I wish he would settle down with Terri," the mother-of-five apparently admitted. "She's a wonderful girl. She's talented and she's good for him.

"They've been together for five years and I can't think of anyone who would suit him more."

But at least Mrs Cowell, who accompanied Simon to the launch of Michael Winner's Fat Pig Diet book, has other grandkids.

"I've got five sons - Simon is the second youngest - and all the others are married with children," she said.

"It's only natural to want the same for Simon, But you can only nag up to a point."

Simon will be appearing on our screens on ITV1's X Factor on Sunday, cheering on the groups he's been mentoring.

Simon offers to help Britney? - Sept 14 2007

Earlier this week Simon Cowell apparently declared Britney Spears’ career over after her performance at the VMAs, but now it seems he’s offered her a chance to star on American Idol - as a contestant.

"We have decided we can bring Britney back," Fox News reported Mr Nasty saying.

"We are serious. We plan to buy her underpants, get her bigger shorts to perform in and get her away from her stupid friends."

Simon’s fellow Idol judges seemed to agree.

Paula Abdul apparently gushed: "We always have time for Britney. We love her."

And Randy Jackson was also in agreement.

"We’d love to take care of you, Spears! We will make you a superstar again!" he reportedly added.

The troubled 25-year-old has met with a barrage of criticism after her poor performance at the MTV Video Music Awards which was watched by more than 7 million people.

Her new single Gimme More entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart at 85.

X Factor is genuine, says Simon - Aug 16 2007
Simon Cowell has denied the X Factor misled viewers as a 14-year-old who’s lucky to be alive, a dinner lady, and a mother-of-two whose father sent off for her application just before he died, were unveiled as this year’s hopefuls.

A record 150,000 people have applied for the fourth series, to show off their talent in front of Simon, Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh, and new recruit Dannii Minogue.

Louis returned after being sacked as a judge by Simon.

The first episode, going out on Saturday, shows Simon telling producers he wants Louis back.

Show bosses said they had to re-stage some scenes involving the judges deciding what to do about bringing Louis back but said is didn’t mean they were misleading viewers.

Simon said: "What you see is what happened. We don’t try and censor this show. I’ve always said we will allow viewers to look through the keyhole and that’s what we do. It’s raw and we don’t censor. It’s not a sanitised, make-believe show."

Asked whether any of the delusional wannabes who were convinced they were the next big pop star although they couldn’t sing could have been actors duping the judges, he said: "I’m very, very careful that the people that come on for these auditions are not the people that dress up as a banana because they want to be on TV.

"I’m pretty much 100 per cent certain that they are all genuine."

Biography

As a music industry mogul Simon Cowell’s had a hand in ’shaping pop music today’. Public recogintion had to wait until he was cast as the nasty judge on the hit ITV show Pop Idols .

Starting in 1979 with EMI Music Publishing, Cowell (42) got a taste for what the public wanted and it wasn’t long before he decided to take these qualities and put them to use for himself, setting up his own label, Fanfare, along with partner Iain Burton.

By 1989 BMG had offered Simon a position as A&R Consultant. It was a relationship which would prove to be hugely successful, profitable and enduring. Cowell has set-up his own label through BMG, S Records, reflecting the success and vision he has manifested.

Simon’s roster of signing reads like a who’s who of pop success stories over the last decade. Highlights include, Curiosity Killed The Cat, Sonia, and cornering the boy band market, bad boys of pop Five (who disbanded last year) and the global multi-platinum phenomenon, Westlife.

Always pop but never predictable, Simon has enjoyed some of his most successful signings by always keeping an eye firmly on the TV world, sensing a public following and always being the first knocking on the door. The Power Rangers, World Wrestling Federation, Zig & Zag and the Xmas Number 1 smash Teletubbies moved from the small box to the airwaves due to Simon, although, he claims his biggest shock success would come in the form of Robson & Jerome.

Making records and breaking them, in the last 10 years, Cowell has achieved sales of over 25 million albums, over 70 top 30 records and 17 number 1 singles.

Simon is currently a judge on the US version of Pop Idols and is busy looking after Will, Gareth and Sarah Watemore, who he signed to BMG after the show.
