But the singer hinted the band - who won gongs for Best Single for ’Speed of Sound’ and Best Album for ’X&Y’ - would reunite in the future.

He told the crowd: "This means so much to us, especially now. "It’s going to be a few years before you see us again." The 28-year-old added: "People are fed up with us - and so are we." Friends of the star have claimed he wants to spend more time with pregnant Gwyneth and their daughter, Apple.

On the night Coldplay wowed the crowd with a spectacular performance of ’Square One’ at the star-studded bash. One guest said: "His antics topped an absolutely storming set by Coldplay. It was probably one of the best seen at the event in a long time. The crowd absolutely loved it."
