Gordon Ramsay

  • Profession: Celebrity chef
  • Place/Date of Birth: Johnstone, Scotland, 08 November 2020

"It was when he and I struck a deal - he could have one more score, a £10 bag, before he went into rehab. That has tortured me ever since. I had to sit and watch him," he said.

Gordon’s Pub Grub - Aug 06
Long gone are the days of scampi and chips with a warm glass of beer and if you needed convincing of that the mere fact that celeb chef and Michelin star snaffler Gordon Ramsay is set to open a chain of pubs should do it.  His father-in-law, who is also the CEO of Gordon Ramsay Holdings has told press that their next move is set to be pubs serving food, "I don’t mean gastro-pubs, I mean good food" he quipped.  Meanwhile the brand is also heading stateside with new restaurants planned in New York, Hollywood and Florida.

Everything Must Go - Aug 06
Gordon Ramsay’s missus obviously didn’t take any of his business advice when setting up her own shop.  Tana’s store The Red Fort, which sells art, furniture and homewares, next to Gordon’s Boxwood Cafe, is to close following poor sales.  The Knightsbridge store has been open just two and a half years but Tana is already selling up and moving on to pastures new - this time to write a children’s recipe book.  Nothing like keeping it in the family, eh?

Marco v Gordon - Aug 06

Gordon Ramsay and Marco Pierre White haven’t seen eye to eye for a veeery long time.  And the latest in a long line of rows has occured following the publication of White’s autobiography.  In the book, White Slave, the original celebrity chef claims that he made Ramsay cry on his last day under his tutelage.  "Gordon crouched down on the floor in the corner of the kitchen buried his head in his hands and started sobbing.  ’I don’t care what you do to me’ he said as he wept, ’hit me I don’t care, sack me I don’t care’" reads the book.  Of course the F Word presenter isn’t one to take things lying down (or crouched in a corner weeping) and says he will tell his own version of events later this year when his autobiography is released.  We can’t wait.

Gord’s Dinner Date - Aug 06
Comedian Billy Connolly is the guest most Scots would like as a dinner party guest according to a recent survey.  The Big Yin took a huge 36% of the vote, beating Gordon Ramsay (who would almost certainly be handier in the kitchen) to the top spot.  Well, if nothing else Scotland can’t be accused of being prudish about dinner table language.

Biography

By rights Scottish born Gordon Ramsay should have been a professional footballer but injury cost his career with Glasgow Rangers FC. But footballs loss was cookery’s (and shouty sweary reality TV’s) gain.

Following his injury Ramsay signed up for catering college, passing with flying colours and going on to work under legendary chefs Marco Pierre White and Albert Roux. After honing his skills in kitchens around the UK and France, Ramsay went on to become a personal chef for an Australian TV star before flying back to London as part owner of Aubergine. But, in true Ramsay style Gordon had a bust up with the backers of Aubergine, causing him to walk out and take his staff with him to form his eponymous restaurant in Chelsea, the only London eatery to gain three Michelin stars.

He has also opened restaurants in Claridges and the Connaught as well as Petrus in Mayfair, Amaryllis in Glasgow and Verre in Dubai. Ramsay is also a TV celebrity, currently starring in Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares on Channel 4, a reality TV show which gives the Osbournes a run for it’s money in the ******* **** stakes.
