Love Kylie's new swimmies

What a pleasure it is to see a happy, healthy Kylie Minogue swimming like a little mermaid in a shiny bikini. For all Kylie fans who can’t get those famous golden hotpants out of their heads, the pictures of Kylie sporting her new range of metallic little numbers for H&M will be a treat.

H&M Loves Kylie summer swimwear range was designed to blend laidback sporty beach style with showgirl glamour. The ‘relaxed meets disco’ range was inspired and influenced by the glamour puss herself, although see didn’t design the 15 items. The limited line is set to be a hit for the summer season.

“You only have to look at Kylie’s fantastic personal style to see how stylish she is, and she is such a sweet person,” reveals H&M’s head of design Margareta van den Bosch.

“She was very enthusiastic in communicating what she personally likes to wear on the beach and showed us visual references, like her own favourite 60s vintage bathing suit, which inspired the halterneck costume.”

H&M says that the stylishly sporty beachwear line perfectly mirrors Kylie’s relaxed fun-loving demeanour as well as her showgirl stage persona. It is both simple throw-on casual and glistening glamour. The range uses both shimmering metallic fabrics for swimwear and a vibrant water-inspired aqua blue and green swirl print. The aqua blue and green print features on a retro halterneck bikini and costume, a beach towel, a fold-away beach bag, a crisp cotton-voile smock top and a silk head scarf that doubles as a belt. Prices start from £19.99.

The Kylie beachwear line complements H&M’s wider range of glam but sporty beachwear. There are metallic silver and golds, graphic black and white prints and animal prints, while hot hues of yellow, red and pink reflect the surfing influences.

Ten per cent of the money spent on the H&M loves Kylie line will be donated to WaterAid. The international charity is dedicated to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world’s poorest people.

Kylie’s H&M range follows that of Madonna’s which, although it received some less than favourable press, has proved to be a lucrative range for the store. It also follows other celebrity clothing ranges this year by Kate Moss for Topshop, which launched at the end of April, and Lily Allen, who has designed a range for New Look.

H&M Loves Kylie range is available in all H&M stores now.
